THE MAKING OF THE PUBLISHER'S LIMITED EDITION OF BACK TO THE STONE AGE(2015) The video to the left shows Rob LoMascolo letterpress printing The Publisher's Edition of Back to the Stone Age by Edgar Rice Burroughs. This was the first book published by Edgar Rice Burroughs Inc. since I Am A Barbarian was released in 1967. It was also the first ERB Inc. book to feature multiple color illustrations (including original paintings by Thomas Grindberg and Bob Eggleton) or to be boxed, signed or numbered. The text was printed using the original 300 1 lb. printing plates used for the 1937 first edition. Each book was presented in a custom clamshell box that also housed one of the original printing plates. The edition was limited to 300 signed and numbered sets and is sold out.
(below) These pictures show the binding and fulfillment process for the book. The first picture is the first copy off the press - lettered "A" and presented to Jim Sullos and Cathy Wilbanks of Edgar Rice Burroughs Inc. for the company archives. It features an original sketch by Thomas Grindberg.
